Branscombe is a beautiful crochet shawl to wrap around your shoulders when there is a chill in the air. Shells and V-stitches give this shawl an open, drapey fabric. Triangular in shape, the top of the shawl features a “valley” that ensures the perfect fit around your neck. Stripes adorn the top and bottom edge and make this piece a modern classic. You'll love creating this piece as much as you’ll love wearing it.
GAUGE 7 repeats and 13 rows = 6”/15 cm in pattern (Note: See Stitch Pattern for Gauge Swatch in Stitch Guide.) Save time, check your gauge.
PATTERN NOTES Note that the sample took exactly five skeins of the main color. We recommend purchasing six skeins as insurance.
Branscombe is worked from the top down with increases at the center back and each side. A marker will indicate the center back. When working into V-sts, work into the ch-2 space between the double crochets.
The instructions are written to minimize the number of ends you need to weave in. Follow the directions for turning or not turning at the end of each row, carrying unused yarn up the side. Only cut yarn when directed to do so. To change colors at the end of a row, work the last stitch of the old color until two loops remain on hook, yarn over with new color and pull through the last two loops on the hook to complete the stitch.
