The best way to ward off the winds on chilly days is by wearing a perfectly adorable hat. Better yet, wear one with earflaps! Warm yet lightweight, this hat is ideal for breezy days. In addition to the earflaps, the Trailhopper hat boasts I-cord ties and a mock-cable ribbing.

Newborn-3 mo (6-12 mo, 12-24 mo)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Brim Circumference: 12 (14, 16)”
Stretches to approx. 15 (17, 19)”
Length (excluding Earflaps): 5¾ (6¼, 6¾)”

MATERIALS
Wisdom Yarns Mini Saki (50% superwash merino, 25% bamboo, 25% nylon; 50g/230 yds)
• 505 Grasshopper – 1 skein (all sizes)
Needles: US Size 3 (3 mm) set of DPNS or your preferred needle for knitting small circumferences in the round or size needed to obtain gauge
US Size 2 (2.75 mm) set of DPNS or your preferred needle for knitting small circumferences in the round
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn

GAUGE
32 sts x 36 rnds = 4” in Stockinette stitch (St st) using larger ndl
Save time, check your gauge.

PATTERN NOTES
This hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. It begins with an I-Cord, then increases create an ear-flap. After working both ear flaps, stitches are cast-on and joined in the round to create a full brim.
